The third sale of the 2017 winter season saw the market indicator climbing by 6%.
Mohair South Africa said there was a 98% clearance of the 178 955 kilograms offered at Tuesday’s sale.
“The market indicator close at R202.34 p/kg,”said Mohair SA.
“Mohair across all categories were in good demand, with added competition from a new buyer on the auction floor driving the market upwards.”
“Although the offering consisted of some good quality mohair, clean yield percentages were once again negatively affected by the drought, whilst the weaker SA currency assisted competitiveness on the auction,” said Mohair SA in a statement.
Three individual kid lots each achieved a highest price of R320.00 p/kg.
