Detectives in Bethelsdorps are investigating a case of murder following the gruesome killing of a 24-year-old man in Port Elizabeth’s Northern Areas.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, says members responded to a complaint of mob justice taking place in Norkie Street, in Booysens Park before 9 pm on Wednesday.
When they arrived at the scene the naked body of an unknown man was found with no one else in sight.
Naidu says he sustained a wound to the back of his head and a few meters away from him, police found smouldering ashes which appeared to be the deceased's clothes.
She says the deceased was later identified by his aunt as Athenkosi Fushane.
