An Eastern Cape man, the 42-year-old Anele Manyamfu has been sentenced to 20 years imprisonment for murder following a mob justice incident that resulted in the death of a 40-year-old man at St Francis Bay.
Four others Malibongwe Manyosi (23), Sanele Ngxikini (28), Avuyile Nqolwana (25) and Selfina Zitebe (37) were sentenced to five years imprisonment each for their role in the incident.
Sergeant Majola Nkohli says they were sentenced in the Humansdorp Regional Court recently following the brutal murder of Thembalethu Mgebisa in Sea Vista in March of this year.
Mgebisa's murder came as a revenge attack after he allegedly murdered a 32-year-old man believed to have been his girlfriend's other boyfriend.
Nkohli says the five were convicted and sentenced after pleading guilty to the respective charges - of murder and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
