‘Missing’ PE cop in hot water

A Port Elizabeth police Constable reported missing by his mother has been found sleeping in his car in Kwadwesi.

On Monday police in the Motherwell Cluster reported that 23-year-old Constable Siviwe Ntengu went missing on Sunday after leaving his Motherwell home for Bhisho.

He was due to attend a course at the All Saints Academy but did not arrive at his destination.

Now, Ntengu appears to be in hot water after he was found sleeping in his car in Joe Slovo informal settlement in Kwadwesi, Port Elizabeth, in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

“The Motherwell Cluster Commander, Major General Dawie Rabie has ordered a full investigation in terms of his absence from reporting for a course as well as causing SAPS expenses to search for him as a missing person,” said police spokesperson, Captain Andre’ Beetge.

He said General Rabie warned that "misconduct by our police members cannot be tolerated”, and if it is proven that Ntengu had breached standing orders, “departmental steps will be instituted against him."
