The body of a woman who was reported missing at the Motherwell police station on Wednesday was discovered with a gunshot wound to her head in a bushy area in Fairview yesterday morning.
According to police, 66-year-old Pazama Maqolo was reported missing after she was last seen at a church in Mbiza Street at around 12:30.
On the same day at around 23:00, her white Toyota Etios was recovered in Airport Valley by members of the K9 Unit and her tracking company.
Police spokesperson. Colonel Priscilla Naidu said her body was discovered on Thursday at 08:45 in the bushes in Oregon Street in Fairview.
"It is alleged that a construction worker on site used a shortcut through the bushes to get to a spaza shop when he stumbled on a body lying in the footpath.
"He informed his employer who alerted police.
"The deceased was confirmed to be the missing woman from Motherwell," said Naidu.
She confirmed that Maqolo had a gunshot wound to her head.
The motive for the murder is still unknown and police are investigating a case of murder.
