An East London man reported missing on Wednesday after his father's car was stolen with him inside, has been found unharmed.
Eastern Cape Police spokesperson, Captain Mali Govender, said that 34-year-old Ryan Meyer, who has down syndrome, was found by a policeman in Cofinvaba early on Thursday morning after he went off duty.
"This morning a police officer going off duty from his night-shift when he saw a person near the Cofinvaba hospital.
He stopped his vehicle and noticed that the person resembled Ryan Meyer who was reported missing in East London yesterday," said Govender.
She said Ryan was "cold and wet" and was immediately taken to the Cofinvaba hospital where she said the staff on duty attended to him.
Govender says the policeman contacted his station commander who informed him about the person who he had dropped off at the hospital."
"On arrival at the hospital, the station commander met a very happy Ryan who continued giving hugs. The management of the SAPS expressed their sincere appreciation to the community for their involvement in tracing Ryan".
He was reported missing on Wednesday by his father, Warrant Officer Floyd Meyer, who was inside a shop when an unknown man got into his car and drove off with Ryan inside.
