Ruff, the Cape Fur seal which was washed away when high seas battered the East London beachfront ten days ago, has been found.
Buffalo City Metro Marine Services Head Siani Tilney, said Ruff was found on Wednesday in the Kwelera River Mouth by a member of the public.
She said in a Facebook posting that the member of the public “tested her with fish in a blue container which is what she normally feeds from”.
“This confirmed it was her. We are really pleased to have her back,” Tilney said.
Tilney said where Ruff was found was a “was a beautiful place to stay, but her affinity with people and the reality of boats with motors and fishing bait and hooks and the growing "muti" trade was a strong reason on why we brought her back,” said Tilney.
