The bodies of two young children have been found in a disused motor vehicle in Zwide, Port Elizabeth.
The vehicle had mechanical problems and had been standing in the yard of a home in Scheepers street for the past two months.
Police Warrant officer Thembi Gwe has named the deceased as three year old Nasisipho Klass and four year old Athini Slamini.
The cause of death is unknown at this stage and police are awaiting the results of the autopsies which will be performed on Tuesday.
Gwe says community members searched for the missing children for several hours on Monday before alerting the police.
"At about 22:00 hours the kids were still missing and the family informed the police. The search was started immediately, even going door to door, then after 1am on Tuesday morning their bodies were found in an abandoned vehicle" she said.
