President Jacob Zuma has appointed the Minister in The Presidency, Collins Chabane to attend to the challenges at the Walter Sisulu University in the Eastern Cape.
The Presidency says in a statement Zuma assigned Chabane to work with all stakeholders to ensure that the culture of learning is restored at the university.
It says Chabane is currently consulting with government officials, and will be holding discussions with all affected parties in due course.
The Minister has already established a technical committee of Directors-General of Labour and Higher Education to immediately begin with the process.
The Presidency says Zuma assigned Minister Chabane after receiving a letter, appealing for his intervention, from the South Africa Council of Churches in the Eastern Cape.
