The Minister of Water and Sanitation, Senzo Mchunu, says he wants all the remaining water leaks in Nelson Mandela Bay closed by Friday this week.
Mchunu briefed the media earlier on Monday on the progress made so far by the city to avert Day Zero.
The Metro in partnership with the business sector has been tackling water leaks around the Metro with over 2000 of 3000 leaks closed so far.
While Mchunu applauded the team for the progress made, he said no drop of water should be lost through leaks.
Municipal Manager, Noxolo Nqwazi, said three more local contractors will be procured to deal with water leaks.
