Buffalo City Metro says it will need more funding in the mid-year budget adjustment to improve the poor state of its roads.
Executive mayor Zukiswa Ncitha released the metro's road recovery plan on Monday.
She said Buffalo City had already spent 80% of its R16.7m general roads maintenance budget with projected expenditure at R30m.
Sixty million rand has been budgeted for roads in Mdantsane.
Ncitha said roads in Gonubie, Cambridge and King Williams Town are also getting a facelift.
In order for the metro to eliminate its road network backlog, the mayor says they need R600m over three years.
