Metro trying to restore power after veld fires

 Technical teams from the Municipality are working on restoring power to a number of areas in Nelson Mandela Bay.

Lovemore Heights, Driftsands and Schoenmakerskop were left without electricity on Monday night when widespread veld fires damaged power lines.

Metro spokesperson Kupido Baron says the teams are having to put in new electricity poles and wiring.

They're hoping to have power restored to the affected areas by close of business on Tuesday
