The PE K9 unit and the Marine Coastal Dark Water Ops members have arrested two suspects and seized a sizeable amount of abalone.
Colonel Priscilla Naidu says around 3.30 pm on Thursday, the two suspects aged 22 and 35, were spotted walking at the corners of Marine Drive and Victoria Road.
Both were wheeling suitcases with them. As police approached them they noticed water leaking from the suitcases.
On searching the bags, a total of 138 units of abalone were found.
The value of the endangered molluscs has been put at R80 000.
The men will appear in court on Monday on charges of the illegal possession of abalone.
