MEC kicks off Eastern Cape land project in Port Alfred

Eastern Cape Public Works, Transport and Roads MEC Thandiswa Marawu launched a R125m provincial land project at Port Alfred on Thursday.
The aim of the initiative is to dispose of superflous immovable state assets, to promote land ownership by previously disadvantaged communities.
The project in the Port Alfred-based Ndlambe Municipality is one of the flagship delivery projects for the department in the currrent financial year.
"Communities will benefit, that they will get their title deeds now that they own their RDP houses, furthermore there will be some infrastructure development which will later on create some jobs for the communities which is part of socio economic upliftment of the communities especially the previously disadvantaged communities" Marawu said.
