East London police are investigating the brutal murder of a six-year-old girl whose body was found wrapped in plastic.
Spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said Skholiwe Mahleka had been kidnapped, brutally murdered and possibly raped.
Her body was found under a bed in a house in unit 13 in Mdantsane on Thursday, two days after she was reported missing.
Naidu says police were dispatched to the house after the community rallied together to search for the missing child.
She said the situation was so hostile, that police had to call for back-up.
"When police entered the house, a severely injured male was found. He later succumbed to his injuries."
Naidu says the police are investigating two cases of murder.
