A 45-year-old woman from Mdantsane was arrested for murder after she allegedly shot her son who was assaulting her daughter at their home on Wednesday.
Captain Nkosikho Mzuku says it is alleged that the 24-year-old deceased accused his sister of stealing his cellphone and an argument broke out.
He says the deceased then grabbed a wheel spanner and started beating his sister.
The mom grabbed her boyfriends gun and shot her son who died instantly.
The circumstances surrounding the incident is still being investigated.
The mother will appear in the Mdantsane Magistrate's Court this week where she will face a charge of murder and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
