Police in Gqeberha have opened an inquest docket following the drowning of a teenager at a tidal pool.
A spokesperson for the National Sea Rescue Institute Craig Lambinon says their duty crew was activated on Sunday afternoon following reports of a drowning in progress at Willows Grove Resort.
He says on arrival at the scene rescue swimmers entered the water to search for a missing 18-year-old matric learner
Lambinon says they eventually found the teenager but after all efforts to resuscitate him were exhausted he was declared dead.
The body was taken to the care of the Police and Government Health Forensic Pathology Services.
The deceased was identified as Bulela Tisane.
