Eastern Cape Premier, Phumulo Masualle, will receive the certificate of occupation to the recently completed R1.9bn Cecilia Makiwane Hospital New Building from the contractor on behalf of the Eastern Cape Government.
“The high-tech facility, which has been fitted with modern medical equipment valued at over R300 million including a Scope Room where medical personnel will use specialized cameras to capture internal images of patients, also boasts maternity, neonatal, paediatric, general wards as well as theatres and a neonatal Intensive Care Unit,” according to Bhisho spokesperson, Sonwabo Mbananga.
“With the opening of the new facility, orthopaedic services will once again be available at the hospital,” he said.
“The flagship facility will also be digitally connected to Victoria Hospital in Alice, Butterworth Hospital and Dutywa Community Health Care Centre, using imaging technology to make diagnoses, identify and process referral cases and prescriptions quicker,” said Mbanganga.
