Eastern Cape police said a team of seasoned detectives has been assembled to track down the gunmen who mowed down six people in Veeplaas in Gqeberha.
Provincial police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Sipokazi Mawisa, said the shooting occurred late on Sunday night in a house on Kani Street.
She said police were alerted at around 22h15 and upon arrival at a house they found the bodies of six men aged between 21 and 27.
She said a 21-year-old female was wounded and taken to hospital for treatment.
Mawisa said the motive for the shooting is unclear and will form part of the investigation.
The identities of the deceased cannot be released until a formal identification process has been finalised.
“The investigation team will work tirelessly until the culprits responsible for this heinous attack are behind bars.
