Detectives from the Provincial Organized Crime Investigation Unit are hunting for two gunmen who shot and killed two security officers in Kwazakhele on Tuesday afternoon.
Police spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart, said the security officers were escorting a company truck to a depot in Marongo Street when the gunmen appeared from behind their vehicle.
She said they fired several shots through the window over the vehicle, fatally wounding both men, aged 34 and 43.
“The suspects then took both firearms off the two security officers and fled on foot from the scene. The names of the victims will be released once formal identification is completed,” Swart said.
Anyone who may have information on the gunmen should contact their nearest police station.
