Eastern Cape police seized madrax worth R61 920 and arrested three men near Gamtoos Bridge, outside Jeffrey's Bay, on Thursday morning.
Police spokesperson, Seargent Majola Nkohli, said K9 police were patroling the area when they saw a Honda Ballad that veered off the road.
Nkohli said the police noticed a second car, a white Opel Corsa, and initially thought that the driver was helping the occupants of the Honda. However, at second glance the police suspected that the driver was stealing things from the Honda and investigated.
Nkohli said preliminary investigations show that the driver of the Corsa was trying to remove the drugs from the scene.
The three men aged between 26 and 42 were arrested for dealing and possession of mandrax and are due to appear in the Humansdorp Magistrate's Court soon.
Humansdorp Cluster Commander, Brigadier John Lebok said: "This arrest is a testimony that if members are adhering to the pillars of Back To Basics approach in policing, such as enhancing police visibility, crime would definitely fall. I am pleased to see diligence, and alertness from members when performing their duties."
