Police are investigating a case of attempted murder after a 50-year-old man was wounded in a shooting incident at a petrol station in Summerstrand in Gqeberha.
Police spokesperson, Captain Andre’ Beetge, said the shooting happened at around 01:40 on Friday morning when Humewood police were notified of the incident at a garage on Strandontein Road.
“It is alleged that a white VW Polo stopped at the garage, and shortly after a white BMW stopped behind it. Suspects in the BMW fired several shots at the driver of the Polo.
“The VW Polo sped off as well as the BMW,” Beetge said.
In a statement, he said police managed to trace the wounded male driver to a hospital where he was taken by a passenger for medical attention.
A case of attempted murder was opened and is being investigated by SAPS Humewood.
No motive for the incident was offered.
Beetge said police are also appealing to anyone who may have information on the suspects to contact Humewood police.
