A 30-year-old man who allegedly tried to throw his young niece off the Steve Biko Bridge on Monday will make his first court appearance in the East London Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
According to Red Alert Electronic Security EC, their teams were alerted to the scene just after 1 pm where they found the man dangling the one-year-old child over the Bridge.
Police Spokesperson Colonel Sibongile Soci says the suspect was identified as the child's uncle and was arrested at the scene.
He will be facing a charge of abduction and attempted murder.
