A 20-year-old man is currently in hospital after he was shot in the chest just moments after two suspects with a flashlight woke him up.
Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says the man was asleep with his girlfriend inside his shack on Tuesday when the incident occurred.
She says the victim lives in a shack, situated along the bushes on the Standford Road Bridge on the N2.
Captain Janse van Rensburg says the victim and his girlfriend woke up and saw men shining flashlights not too far from them.
She says moments later several shots were fired in his direction with one hitting him in the chest.
Algoa Park Police attended to the complaint after 8 am.
The motive for the shooting as well as the identity of the suspects is unknown at this stage.
A case if attempted murder is under investigation.
