Eastern Cape police have taken a suspect in for questioning following a raid yesterday at an Mthatha taxi rank where three people were killed in a drive-by shooting last week.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela, says they will investigate any possible links to last week attack in which 15 other people were shot and wounded.
However, Fatyela says the man still faces a charge of being in possession of an illegal firearm after police seized a 9mm pistol with several rounds of ammunition.
Last Thursday night's attack has been blamed on ongoing strife between rival taxi operators in Mthatha and Libode.
Meanwhile, in a separate matter, Fatyela says the bodies of three men in their early twenties were found at Mpheko Locality near Mthatha.
He says they were beaten to death in a suspected mob justice attack.
However, no further details were available.
