Police in Kariega are investigating a case of murder and attempted murder following an alleged mob justice attack in Kwanobuhle on Monday.
Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says police attended to a mob justice complaint at half-past five in the afternoon.
She says when they arrived at the scene in Matchaka street they found one person already deceased and another still alive with severe burn wounds.
Colonel Naidu says community members were standing nearby.
The deceased was 41-years-old.
Naidu says the surviving victim is still in hospital and has not yet been interviewed by detectives.
