Port Elizabeth police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after one person was killed in an accident between a car and a truck on the M-19 towards Uitenhage on Thursday night.
Spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu says an Opel Astra and a container truck were travelling in opposite directions when the Astra apparently lost control and collided with the truck.
She says the 58-year driver of the car passed away at the scene, while the truck driver was taken to Mercantile hospital with serious head and body injuries.
Naidu says the truck broke into pieces and part of the truck and the container fell off a bridge near Redhouse.
She says the cab of the truck caught alight and burnt out.
