Knysna police have arrested a 33-year-old man on a charge of attempted murder after a three-year-old child was admitted to hospital with serious head injuries.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies said the incident happened on Saturday afternoon on Chungwa Street in Khayalethu at around 16:00.
It is alleged that the child was hit with a brick. The toddler was later transferred to a hospital in George for further medical care.
Spies said the man is being held at the Knysna police station.
He is scheduled to make his first court appearance in the Knysna magistrate's court once he has been charged.
