The Eastern Cape Transport Department says a total of 120 motorists have been arrested on suspicion of drunk driving in sting operations across the province over the past 2 weekends.
Spokesperson, Unathi Binqose says 51 of those were arrested this weekend alone, with the Sarah Baartman and Amathole Districts all reaching double figures in the number of arrests.
Transport MEC, Xolile Nqatha has commended the officers for the arrests, saying their efforts may have saved dozens of innocent lives from possible crashes - including the lives of those arrested.
He has warned motorists that these sting operations will intensify as the Festive Season nears.
