The Gqeberha Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes Unit is investigating the apparent assassination of a 51-year-old man in Booysens Park on Friday.
Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, said Ryno Plaatjies was shot dead in his car outside a Primary School where he dropped off his daughter, who is a student teacher.
“As she was entering the school, multiple shots were fired,” she said.
Janse Van Rensburg said according to information two suspects from a white Ford Bantam LDV were standing close to Plaatjies’ black Dodge SUV and fired multiple shots at him.
“He died on the scene and thereafter the suspects fled in an unknown direction,” she said.
Plaatjies was the Chairperson of the Norwich Long Distance Taxi Association.
