Eastern Cape police have opened an inquest docket after a man drove a car off a cliff at the Port St Johns airstrip.
Police spokesperson, Sergeant Kaya Matola-Mvanyashe, said the incident happened on Saturday morning.
He said five people were at the cliff taking photographs when 32-year-old Zukisa Nkosiyaphantsi got behind the wheel of their car and drove it off the cliff.
Matola-Mvanyashe said it took rescue teams several hours to retrieve his body.
He said the deceased was from Port St Johns.
