A 49-year-old man has died in a boating accident near the tidal pool in Tergniet, Mossel Bay.
The tragedy happened at around 09h00 on Friday.
Great Brak River Police spokesperson, Sergeant Laurianne Botha, says the deceased and a woman were on a small fishing boat when it overturned near the shoreline.
It is believed that the couple was on holiday in Mossel Bay.
Sergeant Botha says bystanders tried to assist the man but he died on the scene.
He was apparently trapped under the boat when it capsized while the woman managed to swim out from underneath.
