Gqeberha police are investigating the murder of a man who was killed in a suspected mob justice attack on Thursday.
Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, said the incident happened in the Bethelsdorp Policing area.
She said the partially burnt body of 33-year-old Bongani Mboyi, from Soweto On Sea, was found in an open field between Booysens Park and Kwanoxolo.
Janse Van Rensburg said police are appealing to the community to alert the police to anyone committing any crime or caught such a person in the act.
"Vigilantism cannot be a justifiable act of punishment for anyone," she said.
Police are also appealing to the public for any information relating to Mboyi's death, to contact SAPS Bethelsdorp or Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or the nearest police station.
