Man arrested in PE for driving missing fiance's vehicle

Quick response from members of the PE Flying Squad has resulted in the arrest of a 32-year-old man from Paarl for possession of a suspected stolen vehicle.

Colonel Priscilla Naidu says police received a call of a suspicious vehicle at a fast food outlet near 5ways in Cape Road early on Saturday morning.

A PE Flying Squad member who was reporting for duty, responded to the complaint and found the suspect in possession of his fiance's vehicle, a Peugeot 206 .

His fiancé, 28-year-old Nicola Pienaar was reported missing in Paarl in the Western Cape on the 10 January by her mother.

A case of theft of motor vehicle was also reported by her mother. The vehicle belonged to her but was used by her daughter Nicola Pienaar.

Colonel  Naidu says the suspect told police that he dropped Pienaar off in Oudtshoorn on the 7th of January while en route to Port Elizabeth after an argument ensued between  them.

Pienaar is still missing.

The suspect is being detained at the Humewood Police station on a charge of possession of suspected stolen vehicle and for further investigation into the disappearance of Nicola Pienaar.

He's due to make his first court appearance on Monday.
