Suspect arrested by the SAPS in Middelburg in the Eastern Cape

Police at Middelburg in the Eastern Cape have arrested a man for the brutal murder of a 36-year-old woman on Sunday.

Captain Lariane Jonker says police launched a manhunt for the suspect soon after arriving at the murder scene.

The victim had been stabbed multiple times and community members alerted police who found her lifeless body lying in the street.

Captain Jonker says the K9 Unit in Middelburg assisted in tracking down the suspect who was found on a farm in the Middelburg district.

She identified the suspect as 25-year-old Hendrik Heftie.
