Eastern Cape police have arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly stabbing his mother to death in a hospital in East London, a spokesman said on Monday.
“It is alleged that on Sunday, 13 March 2016, at about 12pm, the son visited his mother in her hospital ward. The nurses are alleged to have discovered the lifeless body of the woman lying on her bed with stab wounds to the throat and stomach during feeding time,” Captain Mluleki Mbi said.
“The suspect was found hidden inside the hospital toilet with a knife in his possession.”
The mother was 59 and was receiving treatment for a chronic illness.
Mbi said the son would appear before the East London Magistrate’s Court soon on murder charges.
