A 40-year-old man from Mossel Bay has been arrested on a charge of raping a four-year-old girl.
He was arrested at his workplace in the town on Monday.
Police said the suspect is related to the child and the alleged incident occurred at his 40th birthday party at his Heiderand home early last month.
A police spokesperson said the child told her mother and a charge was laid with Mossel Bay police.
The suspect remains in custody and is expected to make his first court appearance in the Mossel Bay Magistrates Court this week.
