Three people were killed and one seriously injured when a single-vehicle overturned on the N2 near the Port of Ngqura in Nelson Mandela Bay on Monday.
According to Provincial traffic, the driver of a Polo, travelling from Makhanda to Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), lost control just after 7 pm with a woman and two children on board.
Spokesperson Unathi Binqose says the three occupants were ejected from the vehicle.
The driver and two children who were in the back seat died on the scene.
He says an adult female escaped with minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Binqose says it is alleged that driving under the influence of alcohol was a contributing factor.
A case of culpable homicide was open for investigation.
The names of the deceased have not yet been released.
It is suspected that they were a father and his two children.
