A 42 year-old man from Great Brak River accused of the rape of his 79 year-old mother, made a brief appearance in the Mossel Bay Regional Court on Monday.
The man is charged with raping his mother over a number of years.
She has since died of natural causes.
The accused is also charged with raping his 9-year-old nephew who lived in the same house.
The case was postponed to the 25th of June after the man's attorney asked that his client be admitted to Valkenburg Psychiatric Hospital for evaluation.
And in a separate case, also in the Mossel Bay regional court, the trial began on Tuesday of a Herbertsdale policeman accused of rape.
The 52 year-old constable allegedly raped the 49-year-old woman in February at a satellite police station.
She had gone to the police station to open a case of domestic violence when the alleged incident took place.
A captain from the KwaNonqaba police station is also facing charges of defeating the ends of justice after not doing anything when the complainant informed him of the incident.
The woman gave her testimony this morning in Camera.
The matter is being handled by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate.
