One of the seven rhino poachers who escaped from the Waainek Correctional Centre in Makhanda made a brief appearance in court on Tuesday following his recapture on Sunday.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Majola Nkohli, says 34-year-old Abraham Moyana, will now face additional charges of escaping from custody.
He was rearrested at another private game reserve on Monday where three people were seen scaling a fence in an apparent bid to poach a rhino.
Nkohli says the other two managed to flee.
Moyana's rearrest brings to three, the number of escapees back behind bars after the seven, which included six foreign nationals, sawed through the bars of the cell to make their escape last August.
Two were rearrested shortly afterward, while the four remain on the run.
They are Trymore Chauke, Francis Chito, Nhamo Muyanbo, and Luvuyo September.
