East London police have arrested three men aged 33 to 35 following the scamming of a woman's bank card at an ATM in a Nahoon shopping complex.
Captain Mluleki Mbi says the suspects and their vehicles were picked up on CCTV footage following Wednesday's incident.
Information gathered led the police to a shopping complex at NU6, Mdantsane where the suspects were spotted.
One suspect tried to flee and was arrested by police after a brief chase.
Two rented vehicles were confiscated by police who then arrested the other two suspects who were found in possession of a number of bank cards.
Captain Mbi says the men will appear in the East London magistrate's court on Thursday on charges of fraud.
Cambridge police station commander, Brigadier Pumla Mdlankomo, commended the swift action of her members and said the arrests represented a major breakthrough in breaking the backbone of a syndicate operating in the area.
