Maimane visits Fort Hare University ahead of SRC elections

DA Leader, Mmusi Maimane told students at the University of Fort Hare, East London Campus,  on Tuesday that never before has the ANC ship taken on so much water and looked so vulnerable.

He was addressing students ahead of the SRC Elections scheduled to take place at Fort Hare University on Thursday.

The DA-led Student's Organisation, DAS0,  are looking to retain power in the SRC elections at Fort Hare which they won last year at a University regarded as a traditional ANC stronghold.

Maimane said the struggle today was about leaders who serve the people and that's what DASO is already doing at SRC level.

"A SRC that wants to make sure students are looked after on campus, that has excess for more students, this is the new struggle, so this election is absolutely important" he said.

Maimane added, that South Africa is at a crossroads with the most important municipal elections in the country's 22 year-old democracy just three months away.

He reiterated the official opposition's belief that criminal charges must be reinstated against President Jacob Zuma

" We are saying the charges that were brought against Jacob Zuma must reinstated because ultimately if you have a leader who is above the law you set a bad example for all of us in the country" he said.
