The luxury cruise ship the MSC Sinfonia is on an unplanned extended stay in the Port of Port Elizabeth as it waits out heavy sea conditions.
It remains moored in Port for a third straight day after arriving in the city on Sunday en route from Durban to Cape Town.
MSC Cruises says on its Facebook page that the 250 metre long vessel diverted to PE because of heavy seas and bad weather.
It was forced to cancelled a planned cruise to Walvis Bay from Cape Town yesterday and advised that all passengers on that cruise would be receiving a full refund.
When it does eventually sail to Cape Town, the MSC Sinfonia will then proceed on to Europe for the summer season.
