Two young Port Elizabeth pilots had a lucky escape when their light aircraft ended up in the Salt Pans on the outskirts of the city on Tuesday.
Police spokesperson, Captain Andre' Beetge, said that the 19-year-old pilot and instructor and his 21-year-old passenger were not injured.
He said the pair were out on a practice flight in a Sling Two on Tuesday morning when they apparently experienced some turbulence.
Beetge said arrangements were being made to retrieve the aircraft from the water.
