Two Port Alfred men had a lucky escape when a wave capsized their boat in the Kowie River Mouth on Sunday.
The NSRI said that the two, who were wearing life jackets, were flung from the boat but were able to cling to the upturned hull.
“Eye-witnesses urged them to swim away from the boat which was threatening to be washed against the pier,” said NSRI spokesperson, Craig Lambinon.
He said they were able to swim ashore safely where they were treated by private paramedics for cuts and bruises.
“Local surfers also assisted to gather the flotsam from the water,” he added.
Lambinon said the NSRI assisted to recover the boat which was towed into the local harbor.
