Constant complaints about manganese trucks ploughing through Eastern Cape roads have prompted Transport MEC, Xolile Nqata to make a special plea to the industry.
He says he wants drivers to obey the rules of the road and to respect other road users.
The Provincial Transport Ministry says MEC Nqata's appeal comes amid constant reports complaining about the conduct and behaviour of truck drivers, in particular, transporting manganese along the N10 through the Olifantskop Pass.
He says complaints range from allegations of manganese ore littering the road and damaging car tyres, reckless and negligent driving and downright indecent behaviour by the truck drivers towards fellow road users.
MEC Nqata warned that failure to comply will force the department to take a tough stance to enforce order on the roads.
