An East London woman who languished in jail for several years while her fraud trial was being heard in Gqeberha, has been granted bail.
The National Prosecuting Authority says Brenda Wardle was granted bail of R50 000 and with strict conditions.
Spokesperson, Anelisa Ngcakani, says she appeared in the Commercial Crimes Court in Gqeberha on Wednesday.
Wardle was arrested in June 2017, on fraud charges involving over half a million rand.
Wardle, who regularly provided legal analysis for prominent news organisations, including the Oscar Pistorius trial, was adamant she would conduct her own defence.
Shortly after her arrest in 2017, she complained that she was battling with ill health while incarcerated in prison.
