Humansdorp Cluster Commander, Brigadier John Lebok, has expressed his satisfaction with the life sentence handed down in the Stormsriver Regional Court on Monday to Louis Baardman and Phillip Nel for the murder of a woman in Stormsriver three years ago.
36 year old Baardman and 41 year old Nel were sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of 59 year old Ina Marincowitz and to 15 years for the second charge of robbery with aggravating circumstances.
The court heard that on the 27th of January 2014, Nel who was an employee of Marincowitz, entered her house with his accomplice Baardman.
They first assaulted their victim and later dumped her lifeless body in nearby bushes.
The two men stole Marincowitz's motor vehicle, clothing, and other household items valued at around R80 000 and fled the scene.
On the same day a police patrol car spotted the vehicle on the N2 and tried to pull it over but it sped off and they gave chase.
The vehicle lost control and overturned about 15 kilometres outside Stormsriver.
Police subsequently found that it had been stolen and were also led to the body of Ina Marincowitz.
