Learners identified as main culprits not adhering to social distancing

Nelson Mandela Bay acting mayor, Tshonono Buyeye, is advising parents not to allow their children to take part in Valedictory, farewell and pens-down parties.

He says these could be high risk for more COVID-19 infections.
Buyeye's caution comes after the Metro's Disaster Management Forum raised concern about people not heeding safety protocols.

He says students and school learners have been highlighted as the main culprits in the irresponsible social behaviour where masks are not worn and social distancing is not observed.

Eight hotspot areas have since been identified in the Metro; Motherwell; Uitenhage; KwaZakhele; KwaNobuhle; Walmer; Bethelsdorp, Zwide and Despatch.
