A Herold's Bay woman has died after being shot in the head, allegedly by her husband.
Police spokesperson Captain Malcolm Pojie confirmed the woman's death on Tuesday morning.
The couple, both in their 70's, were found at the notorious lookout point called Voëlklip in Herold’s Bay with gunshot wounds to the head on Sunday afternoon.
The firearm was also found on the scene.
A passerby saw the couple on a bench and on closer inspection realized that they had both been shot.
The man was dead and his wife was still alive - she was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
It is believed that the couple walked from their home in Herold's Bay to the lookout point.
Captain Pojie says a preliminary investigation suggests that the husband first shot his wife and then himself.
He says the case will now be changed to one of murder and an inquest.
Captain Pojie says the couple's son requested that his parents' names be withheld from the media.
